If the pipe did clog, how would you find and remove the blockage?
This is an
unlikely scenario and, at over 16 years of system operation,
there has never been a pipe blockage with the SBS™ collection
system.
Our previous and on-going research has
indicated that other effluent sewers with jointed PVC pipes
have experienced some incidents blockage due to tree root
intrusion at the joints in a shallow bury off-road alignment
system. If blockage did occur, the location of the
blockage could be isolated to that section of pipe where
the overflow occurred and flushing/rodding of the mains via
the maintenance holes would remove any obstruction through
that section of the system.
Solids can only access the piping
system through the clarifiers. With the exception of
a small volume of suspended solids, all other materials are
segregated and stored in the first clarifier chamber. It
is impossible to create a blockage in the SBS™ main
piping system if our standard clarifier is properly installed
and utilized.
