15/09/2009 Clearford Finalizes Strategic Alliance to Deliver Integrated Water Management Solutions to the Global Market Ottawa, Ontario – (September 15, 2009) – Clearford Industries Inc. (“Clearford” or the “Company”, TSX-V: CLI) today announced that it has finalized the creation of a strategic alliance with two leading edge environmental companies - Filter Innovations Inc. (“Filter Innovations”) and Aslan Technologies Inc. (“Aslan”). The strategic alliance provides the capability to globally supply communities with integrated water management solutions encompassing wastewater collection, water treatment, reuse and distribution, and energy converted from biogas. Clearford uses patented technologies to create systems for sealed wastewater collection, partial treatment, and water distribution. Filter Innovations is a leader in the delivery of containerized Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) wastewater treatment systems. Aslan, among its varied areas of expertise, provides innovative Reverse Osmosis (RO) technology and equipment for water purification. “This relationship further allows Clearford to achieve its global mandate of delivering turnkey projects that collect and convert wastewater into clean water and energy. Clearford’s Small Bore Sewer™ (SBS™) system is the enabling technology that makes state-of-the-art treatment technologies – like those provided by our strategic alliance partners – efficient, sustainable and highly cost-effective. The approach undertaken by Aslan, Filter Innovations and Clearford is ideally suited to the majority of the world where water resources are scarce. In these water- restricted areas the old ways of wastewater collection and the disposal of contaminated waste streams are neither practical nor preferred,” said Bruce Linton, Clearford’s President and CEO. Mr. Linton further commented, “The Clearford SBS™’s high quality effluent provides excellent input to MBR processes like the advanced technology of the Filter Innovations solution. Aslan’s RO technology provides further purification of the water, and the combination allows virtually the entire wastewater stream to be returned to water sources at a level that improves the quantity and quality of the water resources in the community. Clearford will deliver this combined solution under direct contract with end clients, and under sub-contracts with Filter Innovations and Aslan.” “At Filter Innovations, we are excited about the opportunity to work with Clearford and Aslan to offer communities an integrated water solution,” says company President John Dragasevich. “We are able to customize our water treatment systems in a way that maximizes the benefits of Clearford’s SBS™ technology, and since water conservation and environmental integrity are key considerations in many communities around the world, we believe that there is significant demand for the solution being offered through this alliance.” “The wastewater integrated purification system (WIPS) being offered through this alliance has the potential for dynamic worldwide application,” says Clearford Chairman Rod Bryden. “We are excited to embark on this partnership with two organizations with proven track records and excellent complementary technologies.” As consideration for revenues generated from the strategic alliance agreements, Clearford has agreed to compensate both Aslan and Filter Innovations based on actual revenues earned by Clearford, arising from said agreements, in the form of equity in Clearford. The terms and conditions of this compensation are to be finalized at the time of Clearford's next financing and remain subject to TSX Venture Exchange approval. While Clearford, Filter Innovations and Aslan believe that significant and near term opportunities exist for this integrated solution, there can be no assurance that customer agreements will be reached or that such agreements will be profitable should they be implemented. Neither the TSX Venture Exchange nor its Regulation Services Provider (as that term is defined in the policies of the TSX Venture Exchange) accepts responsibility for the adequacy or accuracy of this release.
