Clearford delivers two treatment plants in New York State
The Clearford engineering and production teams have been busy undertaking the detailed design, manufacturing and site works for two custom M‑brane™ treatment plants in the Hudson River Valley.
Developers of new residential communities and tourism destinations in this part of New York State are seeking leading-edge water servicing solutions that combine advanced treatment technologies, operability, reliability, and innovative delivery models to accommodate the multi-phase buildout of these prestigious developments. “The Koester name is recognized for quality water equipment solutions in the US, and Clearford Koester Canada is building on that reliability with supply of complete custom wastewater treatment solutions,” said Kevin Loiselle, President and CEO of Clearford.
The first project is a multi-phase residential and recreational community near the town of Amenia. Rather than spend a large capital sum at the outset of the project for a final wastewater treatment solution for the entire buildout, Clearford Koester Canada is providing phased facilities that will expand with the development. The first phase—delivered and commissioned in November 2017—accommodates up to 230 cubic metres per day (60,000 gallons per day) and includes underground tankage and a prefabricated treatment plant assembled inside a modified shipping container at the Clearford manufacturing facility in Ontario and shipped to site by flatbed truck. The future phase will double the treatment capacity by installing an additional container and tankage. Both phases are being delivered under a Design-Build-Finance model.
The second treatment plant is a temporary facility for the first phase of a hospitality and tourism complex that will include over 500 residences upon build-out, plus retail, dining and entertainment services. The temporary M‑brane plant—currently under fabrication—will treat wastewater from a new hotel until the development of future phases and installation of permanent treatment and sludge handling facilities. A modular approach to design and construction will facilitate cost effective transitions as new phases of treatment come online. Clearford has also been retained for commissioning and operation of the sewage works during the expected four year build-out.
Clearford M‑brane treatment plants incorporate advanced membranes, chemical phosphorus removal, and UV Pure® disinfection technology to protect water quality in receiving waterways. Both systems were approved by the New York Department of Environmental Conservation.
