Clearford India has 20/20 Vision for the New Year
By Sanjay Deshpande, Executive Director & Head of Operations, Clearford India
Done and Dusted! 2019 was a very busy year in India for Clearford. When it began, Clearford had just completed the first manufacturing unit sewerage system at HILTI Engineering Plant 1 and was nearing completion of the McCain Foods plant. At the start of the year, Clearford was also involved in Phase 1 of the L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering sanitation project at Alwa Village as a part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) mandate.
2019 was a breakthrough year for Clearford India. We were awarded major contracts throughout the year which led to an expansion of activity outside of Gujarat State, where all of the Company’s projects were located in 2018. Clearford committed to several projects that provided sanitation systems to aid human health and environmental sustainability. With the exception of the HILTI plants, all the projects were contracted with different clients.
- Awarded three manufacturing plant projects:
- Mahindra Automotive
- HILTI Unit 2
- HILTI Unit 3
- Granted expansion of original system installation for McCain Foods plant
- Awarded four additional village sanitation CSR projects:
- Plot Pada, near Mumbai, Maharashtra
- Alwa (Phase 2), Vadodara, Gujarat
- Palavasna (Phase 1), Mehsana, Gujarat
- Rangapuram, Chennai, Tamil Nadu
Clearford India’s clientele more than doubled this year to seven clients and expanded geographically to projects in three states – Gujarat, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. Four clients have committed to executing additional projects with Clearford. To balance the growth, Clearford opened two new regional offices – one in Ahmedabad, Gujarat and the other in Chennai, Tamil Nadu – to support the Company headquarters in Pune, Maharashtra.
Most of these projects were the result of people coming to see our completed projects in Gujarat and being impressed by not only Clearford’s engineering capabilities, but also the quality of construction and the positive feedback they repeatedly heard from the project stakeholders.
The year ahead looks equally busy with three existing sanitation projects carrying into the first quarter of 2020, plus the confirmation of three additional projects in the second quarter and prospective manufacturing plant projects on the horizon in two different states. Discussions are also underway with ISED, IRAP, NRC and SDTC to assess whether a Demonstrator Project can be funded as a part of the Government of India’s Naomi Ganga (Clean Ganga) River project.
There is a lot to look forward to in 2020. The Clearford India team is focused on working hard to complete current projects, execute new contracts, and pursue its first slum sewerage project in Mumbai.
