Clearford India’s Activity Goes Full Circle with New Project
In the Indian sub-continent, a deluge of rain overwhelmed many parts of the country including in Gujarat and Maharashtra, where two of Clearford India’s projects are underway. While crocodiles were seen roaming around another project site at Jambudiyapura Village in Gujarat, the Clearford team successfully completed Phase 1 of the Alwa Village project and started the preliminary design and survey work for Phase 2. In Maharashtra, preliminary work began for the Plot Pada pilot project, and installation is moving along at the Mahindra Automotive Plant near Pune.
Clearford India’s mission runs in parallel to the Indian government’s new focus on wastewater recycling and sustainability. In the third quarter, the Clearford One™ system drew special attention for its ability to recycle and reuse water locally where it’s needed. On Sept 18th, I was honoured to present the concept of smart sanitation to attendees at the World CSR Congress in Bangalore and at one of India’s premier water conferences, Everything About (EA) Water, in New Delhi as well as at the Indo-Canadian Business Chamber in Mumbai.

But actions speak louder than words—in September, Clearford India teamed up with NGO Voice Foundation (CCFC India Chapter) and local government officials to organize a tree plantation drive at Rangapuram Colony, Poondi. This initiative takes advantage of the Clearford One village sanitation solution to reuse treated water at the project site for sustainable irrigation of the newly planted trees.

Our work has come full circle with the recent signing of a new contract with GRICL (Gujarat Road & Infrastructure Co. Ltd.), the same client that kick-started our efforts in India with the Jambudiyapura Village project in 2016. Signing of this new contract places Clearford India’s next project in the Palavasana Village in Mehsana District, Gujarat—a large village of approximately 600 homes. The continued support of committed CSR partners in India affirms our ability to deliver the right sanitation solutions for all communities, large and small.
